Netherlands General Election
The Hague, Netherlands
Dutch voters go to the polls on 15 March 2017 in a general election to appoint 150 members to the House of Representatives.
The anti-Islamist, anti-European Freedom Party, led by far-right populist Geert Wilders, will look to secure more seats than incumbent Prime Minister Mark Rutte's liberal People's Party for Freedom and Democracy.
Wilders' unfiltered rhetoric slamming Islam, migration and the EU has resonated in the Netherlands and made him a serious candidate to win the popular vote. It also has alienated many mainstream parties, meaning it would be tough for him to form a majority coalition to take power even if he wins the poll.
